Founder and choreographer of Jaxon Movement Arts based in Chicago, Jacqueline Stewart holds a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance from The University of Iowa. Jackie is a native to the City of Chicago and began her dancing in 1987 under the direction of Maureen Murad. Ms. Stewart performed for three seasons with Duarte Dance Works Contemporary Dance during her time at the University as well as for other faculty atists Deanna Carter, Jennifer Kayle and Dan Stark. In 2007 Jackie returned back to Chicago where she has made guest performances with The Dance Colective and The Seldoms where she performed works by Jennifer Kayle and Darrell Jones. Jackie joined Thodos Dance Chicago in 2007 dancing for artists such as Anne Reinking , Francisco Avina and Ron De Jesus. Jackie has choreographed for Poetic Rebound Company, Open House Dance Chicago Charity Event, Dance Chance Chicago and Chicago Takes Off. Stewart has showcased new works the past four years for Thodos Dance Chicago “New Dances”. In April 2010, Stewart premiered a new work “It’s Not Enough to Close Your Eyes for Chicago’s Open Space Dance Project that became the Grand Prize Winner of The A.W.A.R.D. Show! 2010: Chicago grated by The Joyce Theatre Foundation. Ms. Stewart recently showcased her work and performed at the Joyce Soho in New York City.
